Book Launch Rocks!!!

First Wesleyan Church officially launched "Walking the Walk: step by step" on Sunday, December 16th after the morning worship service. Almost 40 authors took their places behind tables in the foyer with pen in hand to sign copies. Over 200 books were given out, both pre-ordered and those limited copies purchased that day. Amid balloons, refreshments, and a visit from News 2, the air was filled with excitement.

One author said, "I cannot believe I am actually a published author! I love it!" The book has been very well received and the word about it continues to spread. Check out the links below for video of an interview one of our authors, Debbie Barwick, recently participated in.

Debbie was just contacted by another local station, Fox 8, about doing a follow-up on a story that they did about her son Seth, a few months ago. Seth had a miraculous recovery from an automobile accident over one year ago. When Debbie informed them that his story was actually included in a new anthology, they were very excited to promote the book in the piece as well. Check back here for video of the news story. No time has yet been given on when the interview will happen.

Anthology off to a good start

The first published writing of FWC is now available. The book, entitled "Walking the Walk: step by step," can be found at http://www.lulu.com/content/1399703 and ordered for $16.50, plus tax. You can also order it from your favorite local book seller. A launch party is planned at our church on December 16th after the morning Celebration service. Pre-orders number over 175; with a total order of 219 as of today--including orders from the website.

The book is based on the vision of First Wesleyan Church: "To be engaged in a passionate pursuit of Christ, expressing itself through a life-changing love for people." (Galatians 5:6b, "The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.") It contains material written by 40 of the church's authors, including--but not limited to--poems, fictional short stories, testimonies and testimonies. The book is 218 pages long. All proceeds go to a fund to be used in the production of similar projects in the future.
